Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received significant backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Reaction

Slot lamented recurring weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period like this with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
